Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me,
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
~ Emily Bronte
While these days may eventually get drearier, We have a few more glittering golden crisp days before. In my home, we start pulling in the last tomatoes and squashes from the garden and preserving as much of the season as we can, but one of my favorite parts of this season is coming inside, lighting a fire, roasting a good meal in the oven and having friends and family fill our home. I think because of this and these intimate times that are created only when it gets colder and darker, it’s become my very favorite time of year.
As our bakery here is on the smaller side, and our seating is limited (although we will be getting blankets and adding soup to our menu to help warm you), we wanted to offer seasonal treats for you to order, enjoy the seasonal bounty and share our treats in the comfort of your home.
On Our “Holiday Orders “ link you’ll find a selection of very seasonal offerings ranging from yummy breakfast goods such as a Roasted Fennel and Garlic Quiche to an Oregon Hazelnut Cake that’s made entirely of creamed nuts and a little egg to make this cake be the perfect essence of fall while being naturally gluten free and you’d never know. Above is our Walnut Tart made of Browned Butter, Clover Honey and Oregon Walnuts.
And while there is a good selection of autumn treats, if there is something you would dearly love that you do not see, I may be able to make it, depending the treat. Just send us a message and we’ll get our ideas together. Or if you would like multiple items for a big party, no problem, just let us know on the form and we’ll be in touch.
